Professor Konstantin Papailiou,
President of CIGRE
Keynote Topic:
‘CIGRE and the Energy Transition’
With over four decades years of experience in the power systems sector, Professor Papailiou brings unparalleled insight into power systems on a global scale. Former CEO of the Pfisterer Group, he holds a Ph.D. from ETH Zurich and a Dr.-Ing. habil. from the Technical University of Dresden, where he is honorary professor Papailiou has published a number of books and over 100 papers and served as editor of several influential publications.
Konstantin will provide an international perspective on the scale and complexity of the transition and CIGRE’s pivotal role in helping deliver it.

Ms Nicola Falcon,
EGM System Design, AEMO
Keynote Topic:
‘The New Frontier for Australia’s Power Systems’
Nicola brings over 25 years of experience in the energy sector across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Africa, and North America. Nicola has been recently appointed to the role of EGM System Operations. Most recently, she has led real-time operations and market reform in Western Australia and provided expert insights to guide future gas and electricity system planning. Previously, Nicola led major transmission planning and generator connections in Victoria. She holds graduate and post-graduate degrees in Management Science and is a passionate advocate for gender equity in the energy industry.
Nicola will provide a forward-looking perspective on the scale and nature of the Australian transition, including the challenges and opportunities.

Associate Professor Tim Nelson,
Chair, Review of the NEM Wholesale Market Settings
Keynote Topic:
‘NEM Review – Draft Report & Recommendations’
Tim is Chair of the independent review of Australia’s National Electricity Market (NEM), due to report in late 2025. A former senior executive at Iberdrola Australia, AGL Energy, and the Australian Energy Market Commission, he is also an Associate Professor at Griffith University and a published economist.
Tim’s current research focuses on electricity tariff design in high-renewables systems, corporate climate strategies, and energy sector mitigation modelling.
As Chair of the NEM Review and a respected energy economist, Tim brings deep insights into the evolving dynamics of Australia’s energy markets. Tim will provide an update on the work of the Australian Government’s review of the NEM’s wholesale market settings, outlining the key recommendations from the review panel’s recently released draft report.
